Featured talk: “Useful Wooden Things”: Margaret (Nichols) Shurcliff and Pegleggers
In 1925, Margaret and two friends began their own business, Pegleggers, hand-building pine stools and other early American style pieces in Margaret’s attic woodshop and selling them through word of mouth and at pop-up shops. The enterprise was an expression of Margaret’s lifelong passion for carpentry, her own brand of feminism, and her social conscience. Public Engagement Manager Camille Arbogast will discuss our on-going research into Margaret’s carpentry career and Pegleggers.
Please contact the Museum to RSVP.
